I have owned the Boomstick edition of AoD for a few years now, and every time I watched it over, it got hard to watch the movie due to its terrible transfer. However, after watching the HD-DVD yesterday, I am proud to announce that this movie just looks down right gorgeous 98% of the time. There are a few scenes that looks too dark or faded (like when the little Ashes are running around while Ash...

I watched this last night and was surprised at the dirt on the film/camera with in the first 10 minutes of the movie. There was a big dirt spot on the left hand side of the screen during the scene of him just arriving in the medival time. It was so noticable that my kids were asking if something was wrong with our screen, it only lasted a few minutes though and the rest of the movie look pretty ...

If it is the scene when he falls onto the very obvious wood plank out of the sky, it is recycled from a shot they were doing in Evil Dead II and is 16mm. Even on the DVDs it sticks out like a sore thumb. I think it was mentioned in the one of the commentaries even...but it has been a while so maybe I read it somewhere.

I dont remember a wood plank but it is right after he falls out of the sky and is standing in the field while a medival battle is going on, this is when he is taken prisoner. It definetly seemed a problem with one specific camera because every time it switched from a side view of the battle to a front view the problem dissappeared Vipper, if you like the movie I would suggest it, this spot was ...

I've only been able to watch the first 30 mins. or so but it's great so far! Sure there's the problems with the film/camera itself but they aren't that distracting and only last for a moment. I remember begging my mom to take me to see it in theatres, and getting a movie poster of it there. So it holds a special place for me. Now if we could only get Evil Dead 2 in HD.

Yeah, I too, came home and watched this right after work last night. It's Great! I started counting... I've purchased this film about 7 times. I always thought Universal's LaserDisc was the best, the brightest, and sharpest. I never bought the Universal DVD, but about 4 or so Anchor Bay versions. All proved disappointing. I read somewhere that they mastered the DC from VHS? What? Anyway, I love ...
