use your finger tip if u hold the pick for pinches with your thumb ready it shouldn't be hard to hit the string with your other fingertip right but i never really did a pinch harmonic on an upstroke so idk it just seems that would be natural way to do it

its possible by holding the pick so a little fingertip shows and then applying the harmonic with the fingertip but it never sounds as strong as a good pinch

i actually play parts of my bands songs alternate picked with pinch harmonics of both the up and down strokes, it really pisses all my bandmates off but yeah just get some skin from the index on the way back up, i really pinch up close to the top of the pick so it's easier for me

when i pinch on the upstroke i use my thumb still. i kinda arch my hand to do it. bring the tip of the pick towards the bridge. its not hard. but i only learned for fun id never use it.

Yes, that's a wonderful leap in logic. I refuse to do backwards pinch harmonics because it's entirely pointless and now I can't be an artist. Well if an artist has to be open minded to absolutely everything then it's certainly something I don't want to be. I'm sure there's absolutely no musical technique you don't like the sound of and you plan on incorporating them all into your playing.
