PC sluggish after 8400GS install | Thread profile

Hi All. This is my first post so be gentle! :-) I have a AcerPower F5 630, 3.06GHz, 1GB RAM, 160GBHDD (2 partitions) and a 300w PSU. I recently installed a PCI-Ex16 Gigabyte 8400GS 256MB graphics card primarily to support 2 x Samsung 730/740 LCD monitors which works fine in the various extended desktop modes. One LCD is set to analog, the other via the DVI - both connected to the 8400GS....

Welcome to Techimo 1) I dont think it could be the cause.. but your PSU IS a little bit underpowered. Especially since its likely to be of the regular generic sort. 2)You can try disabling the onboard graphics in the BIOS.. Or if it was an actual ATI card uninstal the old drivers. 3)The lack of ram is not the problem. 1 gig is not really a lack at all unless you are doing heavy gaming...

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't think the machine is cluttered....it was running quite fast until the moment I flicked it into dual monitor mode. I'll have a look at the drivers for the ATI on the MB and see if that helps. But I was hoping these things just "plug and play" - literally! Obviously not. Any other suggestions? Cheers

Nope, you have to uninstall the old drivers or somethimes things can get messy
