I've always wondered who was the more contrivesal/groundbreaking of the 2? I have yet to really take in any of Bruce's acts but i've been a major Carlin fan since Carlin at Carnagie! Just wondering? R.I.P. George Carlin.

Bruce was first and was arrested, tried and convicted for his act. He was a major influence on Carlin. George Carlin: It's all bullsh-t and it's bad for ya.

Bruce was dead and gone long before Carlin became popular, much less "blue." He also was in no condition to perform, and hadn't been for some time, even if he'd been able to book gigs. Bruce was much more controversial than Carlin and certainly more groundbreaking, but not necessarily funnier.
