I don't know if anybody else got caught out by the rain this morning in the southeast as I did. I got a later train this morning and just caught the BBC Radio four forecast at about 6 am before leaving. I cant remember who the forecaster was but he started in Scotland, then Northern Ireland where he forecast some very heavy rainfall. Then he went to the west and northwest of the UK where he ...

It was dry when I left home (07.30 ), dry when I arrived in London (08.40 ) and it's still dry now...felt no more than a few light spots today.

Just some drizzle in London at first for me, along the warm front. Nothing heavy.

I heard the same forecast at 0657. The forecasters on BBC Radio 4 are now given a ridiculously short time - about 60 seconds - to give a national forecast, and I've noticed that they tend to focus on the headline weather of the day, which today is the band of heavy rain moving eastwards and northwards followed by showers, and ignore 'secondary' events such as the rain early this morning in the ...

Big Dave's Gusset - 7/10/2008 13:54 It was dry when I left home (07.30 ), dry when I arrived in London (08.40 ) and it's still dry now...felt no more than a few light spots today. 08:40 was almost three hours after the forecast and the rain. I got to work absolutely saturated and walked right past your London station at 07:30 this morning. I guess you had to be up an out between 6 and ...

It's always tricky to get every part of the UK into a very short broadcast, or newspaper panel come to that. You have to concentrate on the more noteworthy weather, and I'm afraid some early drizzle in London just is not very important!

It's raining in the capital...

I live in Whitechapel (in London ) and apart from some light drizzle at about 6.30am there has been no rain here at all what so ever. Perhaps Village has his own non state owned privately funded rain cloud. I also agree with Village that the bbc weather forecasts get it badly wrong sometimes. Where I live it was supposed to have been tipping it down since about midday. I work outside and I ...

PaulKn - 7/10/2008 15:09 I'm afraid some early drizzle in London just is not very important! Especially when it was only Vill who got wet [hehe] Must admit I tend to take rather more notice of the latest radar than I do daily forecasts
