So today was my 1st full day of being on a bike in the MSF class. Last night was the opening 3 hours where we watched some videos and went over the book. Man was it hot outside today, about 92 degrees. So we started the class last night with 23 people. This morning, one did not show up. After we got started, a lady that was taking the class because her husband said she had to broke down next...

I think everyone should HAVE to take the MSF course in order to have an M stamp, there's alot of good stuff in there. betcha you found out some bad habits you didn't even know about!!!

it's kinda like a day at the go cart track; only more fun. Congrats on being 2/3 done, and just remember that even though your bike is bigger, the same basic principles you've learned apply to ALL motorcycles. Go get your stamp and consider avoiding high density roads for a while until you feel 100% comfy with the controls, and handling of YOUR bike. Ride safe and... HAVE FUN!

imagine the ones who left if they had bought a bike and not taken the course, might have injured not only themselves but someone else as well. Kudos to the instructors. Enjoy the rest of the class.

Great job going to the MSF course. I kinda understand about the high attrition rate. I think a lot of people are trying to beat the cost of gas. Unfortunately, it's not for everyone. Just keep learning. Like I tell my students @ work: 1. be precise 2. verify your information 3. continue your education 4. be flexible 5. be confident, not arrogant

Well, I passed my class and now am a licensed motorcycle rider. I only messed up on the figure 8 controlled U-turns...I really can't believe anybody can do that even though I saw the instructor do it several times. Only 2 people in my class actually did it. I can't even imagine doing it on the X, but I plan to practice in a parking lot soon to see what it is like on a big bike. I can tell you...

Good for you, Setaonaes. I've been thinking about taking a class as well, though I've been riding for over 30 years now. It couldn't hurt, and should help with the cost of insurance. Plus I've been on a friend to take the class, he's going to be a new rider soon, so if I took it, he'd be encouraged to.
