Do you put Nitrogen in your tires? If you have, would this be a bigger benefit for Tires with Tubes seeing they're more volatile when running underinflated? I'm just curious on this because I want a bike with Tubeless tires but this might help some with air stability until I can afford a new bike. Pete

I just use plain old air.

Nitrogen isn't sensitive to temp changes meaning it doesn't expand when hot or contract when cold. This is why it is used in gas shocks on motorcycles. There are car dealerships and tire stores here that use nitrogen in to inflate tires. Your bike would have to have a "mag" type wheel to run it tubeless or you would need tubeless spoked wheels.

What is wrong with old fashioned air? Millions of tyres seem to work quite well with just air in them.

Air is a mixture of different gases, most of which is nitrogen. However, all the other gases easily pass through the tires, resulting in underinflated tires. Nitrogen doesn't leak, so if pure nitrogen is used to inflate tires they will keep their pressure for far longer. Another advantage is that using nitrogen in tubeless tires will help prevent oxidation of your rims. Some people also ...

Lol good point there. I think the only real advantage is that the tire will stay inflated longer. It might be worth the price if you´ve got a cruiser/touring bike and you cover a lot of miles. Otherwise, I´d stick with air.

Sigh... I gotta' say better or not, I'm probably just going to stick with the nasty, polluted air my meager 2-1/2 gallon Portable Air Compressor puts out rather then go for the superior benefits of Nitrogen, where I can’t even begin to imagine where I’d look for in this One Horse Town (and couldn’t even get ALL the Plumbing Parts I needed to do a better then my usual HALF-arse job today!) much ...
