Just wondering if anyone can answer my question: must a helmet have a DOT sticker on it to be considered legal for road use here in Ontario? I was looking at an Arai Rapide-SR, which is a Japanese market helmet that is like a combination of a Profile and RX7. It's a pretty sweet helmet, fits quite good, and the price is right.. but it only has a Snell sticker on the back and not a DOT..

The helmet referred to in section 1 shall conform to the requirements of the, (a) Canadian Standards Association Standard D230 Safety Helmets for Motorcycle Riders and shall bear the monogram of the Canadian Standards Association Testing ...

Are you concerned about safety or being pulled over? As long as it's more substantial than a beanie no cop will question it.

By law the dot/snell sticker must be visible or you can get a ticket. My helmet is covered with stickers, but I made sure the DOT is visible. Cheers Aminal

Yeah I was more concerned about being pulled over rather than the safety aspect. I figure that since it's an Arai that's Snell approved, it should be safe enough.

it depends on if the cop is looking for an excuse. They pull over lots of "clubbers" and use the fact that the helmet isn't marked as DOT.

So technically this Shark RSF 2i would be illegal? I think it's ECE only.
