Bike knocked/run over - rant | Thread profile

So I come out from work today to find by front fender all scratched up and by right mirror barely hanging on. As I get closer I noticed the steering is all f*cked up. When the wheel is straight, it looks like I'm doing a sharp right turn the way the handlebars are turned. I'm not sure what happened but it seems like a bit more than it just falling over since the top of my front fender is ...

From the description of the damage, it sounds like someone backed into the front of your bike pretty hard. So the other car's bumper hit your front wheel pushing it more to the left, whereas your handle bars are locked. When you turn the wheels straight, your bars are actually way to the right. Perhaps in the next couple of days you can keep track of those that park regularly in that area...

Sound like alot of damage, might consider collecting insurance. Time to set up small cameras on your bike. I see that you guys ride it to downtown alot, maybe it's not worth to keep a nice bike. Just ride a piece of junk, so you feel so bad if people totally destroy it. I guess when you hit a car with your bike accidentally, you go run away too.

That sucks. I ride downtown on a fairly regular basis and I'm pretty vigilant about where I park. Even if it means walking a little to find a spot that "feels" safer. I still breathe a sigh of relief when I come back and it's all in one piece.

that suck big time...more depending on your ins. coverage. Mine got knocked over by a truck. Fortunately another rider got his info and my ins covered it.

Is this in Oshawa? You could always park it at the church at the intersection of Adelaide and Simcoe. Might be safer there. Just a thought.

This was downtown T.O. I doubt it's any safer anywhere around there unfortunately. I only have liability so insurance won't cover it. ...
