Are there any Ducati Monster owners on this board? I'm thinking of making my next bike the naked variety, and the Ducati Monster (used - there are a few 07s on trader now) is on my radar. How is the bike for sturdiness/durability, and mechanical reliability?

think there was a thread on this recently, i love mine makes a great city bike. Reliability is fine, maintenace cost may be a bit higher, but if you do it yourself, or bring to an independent mechanic it's not bad at all. Just depends on what type of riding, styling ect your after. I love the sound and the soul my bike has, sure there are probably better bikes out there for less. My duc ...

I have the naked SV and love it. Great on gas (I ride with a few 600 riders and I always and consistently use less gas than them when we maintain the same pace) and it has enough punch for most situations. I LOVE the European FZ1 but it doesn't look like coming here....

one more question... Can you double on the Monster? It doesn't look like there's a seat for a passenger on the stock bike. (although, the footpegs for the passenger are there?)

Yes you can double, but spring rate may need to be adjusted depending on the weight of your person, although might not be the best bike if you are going to be double uping lots. Whats your riding experience ? What monster are you looking at ? 696, S4R?

I have an 03 M800 i use for daily commuting. It has been completely reliable, no complaints, maintenance isn't that bad on the aircooled 2v motors, and it gets better gas mileage than my CBR600 did.

i loved my monster 620. Fun bike, not a rocket, but fast enough. 2V bikes are chepaer to maintaine than 4 valve bikes, other than that get what ever one you like what is the price range you ae looking at anyway?
