'05 Supersport 1000's - Which is your choice? | Thread profile

My budget (for the Fall anyways) should be in the $8000 range which is enough to garner any of the '05 1000cc GSXR, CBR, ZX, R1 machines. I'm finding it really difficult to decide however so I would love some feedback. It's going to be a fun street bike. No track use. I've sat on the R1 and CBR. Well i am bias cuz i have an R1(99 though), and am thinking of selling it at end of season to upgrade to a 04/05 R1, but i also really love the 06 zx10, lots of mods for it and looks really good and pretty damn comfortable. But ya of course its your preference but check the zx10.

gsxr 1000. Its incredibly easy to live with and surprisingly docile for just trolling around.

if you want to scare yourself every time you get on the bike, go with the ZX10. The GSXR is much more refined and makes everyone feel like Ben Spies. The ZX10 willl let you know you're riding a 175hp missle every time you get on it it really takes a skilled and experienced rider to get the most out of this bike.

I have a 05 R1, and yes, it has no power down low compared to other 1000s. A 98-03 R1 has more down low grunt and pulling power, but up high rpms, the 05+ will take off like a rocket.

I would go with the GSXR1000, it's powerful, easy to handle and very reliable. I have tried the Yamaha and the Honda. the Honda feels heavy but easy to live with and the R1 feels like a 600 until you hit 9000rpm and then runs like hell .

it really depends on what you like the looks of, and what you like the feel of. As you can see from my picture, I like the R1. It looks SOOOOO much better than the other bikes, and all you need to do to cure the low end lack of power, is a $20 front sprocket. I ride with GSXR's and ZX10's all the time and they NEVER leave me. I personally like the R1 first, the CBR second, the ZX10 third, and ...

I would go with the GSXR1000 as well,as mentioned very easy to handle, the wheelbase is short and as comfortable as your gonna get on sport Good-luck!!

Both the ZX10 and the Gixxer have better mid range torque than the CBR or the R1 which lends itself well to street riding. I agree that the R1 is a nice looking bike, but the first generation ZX10 is damn sexy.. but i might be a little biased.
