Dr. W. Jean Dodd's vaccination protocol is now being adopted by ALL 27 North American veterinary schools. I highly recommend that you read this. Copy and save it to your files. Print it and pass it out at dog fairs, cat shows, kennel club meetings, dog parks, give a copy to your veterinarian and groomer, etc., etc. Get the word out. Hi everyone.... THIS is wonderful news, that the ...

My vet agrees with titer tests so I have gotten those for all of my dogs. My kennel accepts the recommendation of the vet. I travel with my dogs and so they get lymes disease and rattlesnake because of all of our hiking.

*RABIES - There have been no reported cases of rabid dogs or cats in Harris, Montgomery or Ft. Bend Counties [ Texas ] but there have been rabid skunks and bats so the potential exists. It is a killed vaccine and must be given every year. *Lyme disease-Lyme disease is a tick born disease which can cause lameness, kidney failure and heart disease in dogs. Ticks can also transmit the disease to ...

furbs, your heartworm tests are every two years? my vet makes us do them yearly I agree though try and tell my vet he doesnt have to give vaccines every year he would have a cow!! and unfortunatly my dog that is in 4-h with my son has to provide proof of vaccinations every year for distemper and kennel cough, rabies is every 3 years.

Furb, I questioned this rabies info myself and have emailed both Dr. Dodd and Kris Kristine, the co-founder of the Rabies Challenge Fund. Will let you know when I hear something from one or both. As for Lyme, we do not vaccinate for it at all in my breeds due to increased reactions to it. My vets and I are in agreement that should I find a tick on one of my dogs (knock wood, I have not) we...

We also have rabid coyotes down here, furbs. I've seen one. Scary. The rabies vaccine is 3 years here. I don't think I'm gonna do any more with BRigit, she has bad reactions.

I think its diffrent for each state which I think is a problem. If we get it all the same state to state, and set exact timing for vaccination scheduals and REASONS for setting say a 5 year rabies..or whatever... Also this could give a reason to have a National 'rabies' day nation wide...with discount rabies vacciantions...the city closest to us holds one a year and for 5 bucks you can get ...

The only vaccination required by law is rabies, you DO NOT have to give a 5-way booster yearly. In fact, if you re-read the protocols, they do not recommend boosters any DHPP at all. I highly recommend everyone learn about the Rabies Challenge Fund and what they're trying to do in legislation nationwide: http://www.rabieschallengefund.org/ Having lost a foster dog to over-...

Sadly, I know all too well about Addison's...it's one of the things we tested my Bandit for prior to losing him to renal failure. Are you on the Addison's yahoo group list? I'm fortunate that my vets are very open-minded. In fact, when Bandit was diagnosed with CRF, I taught them about calcium/phosphorus ratios, using different phosphorus binders other than the standard epikitan (which is not a very effective binder), why...
