Think about it.. back in the Nixon-Kennedy and Carter-Regan debates.. you could turn on the TV and watch the debate.. or nothing. There were no other options. I think with 24/7 news cycles, You Tube and internet sites.. people don't need to watch the debates as much anymore. They know if there is any big gaffe.. it'll be on the internet / you tube / news cycles constantly for the next week.. ...
