Hi all, I remember reading on here about a site, which tells you how to go about contesting bank charges. I have recently been charged £28 for being 99p overdrawn!!! The statement also shows that I am going to be charged a further £28 for this, and on and on and ariston. I phoned the bank and they said that they will waver the following charges but not the original one, which I'm not going to...

go into the bank and give them a right royal rollockin!! tell them that its the only time uve eva been overdrawn (if it is), and that money was back in the account the same day/nexy day, etc. argue ur case, and they quite often drop all the charge for bein overdrawn! rich

Well banks have to have a line drawn somewhere, maybe you should look at applying a certain overdraft limit to your account so it won't happen again. Yes the charges are way OTT. But I guess its to stop people from going into debt, despite you going into even more debt if you do!

I seriously doubt they care if your in debt or not, in fact, I would think they much prefer you to be in debt; makes good business sense. From reading that site, I've learned that it is unlawful for them to charge such an amount without being able to proove that they have incurred those costs from my measely 99p OD. See also www.moneysavingexpert.com - he HATES banks lol but I think there are templates for letters on there too.
