HC hit the nail on the head. When I got my Llewellin, I spent hours on the phone with my breeder in selecting the right dog. If I were to get another setter, I would probably look at highcotton's dogs. All the pictures I have seen have been great looking dogs and he is very highly spoken of...

HA! I was going to say color, but thought it would not be funny. HC is exactly right. All hunting breeds have vast differences in lines. They will all have high energy levels, especially when they are young. Good luck in your search and have fun with the little one. [img] [/img]

The breeder will want to know what traits you want in a dog. Do you want a dog with range, speed and style or a slow close working dog? What type cover do you hunt? What game birds? Weather conditions where you plan to hunt, cold or hot? and on and on..... The more the breeder knows about your situation the better he/she can match you up with the right puppy. _________________ http...

High Cotton has excellent suggestions. Which will apply to any breed of dog you are looking for. As a potential new owner of a puppy you must be able to ask yourself "What hunting situations am I going to attempt? and "How much effort/training am I going to put into this dog? These type of questions should be answered before bringing any breed of puppy home. The answers are critical for...
