Crysis. Farcry. UT 2004. GTA San Andreas. All have one thing in common- they close after a short period of time. They freeze. Then close. I am doing nothing but playing the game. First it was FarCry way back when. Now it's a plethora of titles just not wanting to be consistent. What is wrong? Nothing is going on in the background, except, that is..CPUMon. But come on now, all of these games? What...

My guess - aliens are in your computer, conspiring with the Illuminati. I could be more helpful if you gave us your system specs. What are you running these games on? Let us know if you are overclocking, or added anything to the system. You could just need to open the case up and blow the dust out. I blame the first sentence on Last FM, they were playing The Dictators "...

Thanks for the info, several possibilities come to mind: 1) What is your PSU? I seem to be asking this alot, but power problems can cause a lot of these random crashes. 2) Windows is bad. I presume you run virus, spyware, malware protection, but you never know. Even if it is just registry bloat, it could be time to reformat your drive and start from scratch. It gives you an ...

Does the computer stay on normally for a while if you are not playing the game? Or does the computer shutdown/reboot at random times? It could also be an overheating problem, but like Skiplives mentions, I would run a couple of those tests before ruling any components out.

msvcr80.dll is not part of windows proper, but it is part of the Net 2.0 package. Apparently, Windows Defender will sometimes remove msvcr80.dll from the windows\System32 folder. Do a search for the DLL and see if it is on your drive, but maybe not where the program expects it. If not, download it from Microsoft and make sure it stays there. Also, what are your display settings for your...

I thought I fixed it by going without Windows Defender and fresh installing but I just recently played crysis and it closed. it's like the jitter repeated noise then it just shut down. no warning. nothing.

Without a DXDiag, from what I am reading you should try updating your graphics card drivers as well as making sure your directx drivers are up to date. A DXDiag would help alot for diagnosiing your issue.
