i realised at about 10am that oats wasnt in the house, under the bed where she normally sleeps. I think that one of my toddlers must have opened the back door, whilst i was in the shower (the garden is toddler proof but no dog proof, oats can jump the gate) to go out in the garden and the dog must have got out. I have called and called till my throat is sore, and cant go and look for her thanks ...

Don't beat yourself up. Of course you can manage toddlers and a puppy. These things happen and children are not as careful as adults - it won't happen again though you'll make sure of that. Hopefully she'll be home before long. Glad hubby is on his way home. Let us know when you have news of her.

Oh no! What bad news! Don't be hard on yourself, no one is perfect and we can all tell stories of dogs getting loose (I've lost one in the woods once and had one fall off a 15 ft deck so I'm no ). Anyway, it's good that everyone is looking. How do you think Oats will react towards strangers? Will she likely approach them or run away?

No news yet, and i have been out shouting again. If we do get her back, i will have learned my lesson and be keeping the backdoor locked at all times now, i just hope nothing happening happens to her, or to anyone ...

I'd print up some pages with Oat's picture and your phone number and knock on some doors, ask people to keep an eye out. There is more info here on what to do if a pet is lost, maybe there is another idea for you there. http://www.petrescue.com/library/find-pet.htm Oat's may be in someone's home enjoying a hot dog with them trying to figure out how to get her back home. Fingers and paws ...
