sometimes I think people get obsessed or wrapped up in bodybuilding because something is missing from their life.....in my opinion there is a rare few that truly love the sport...there's just so many tradeoffs involved, you better love the sport as Hoss already said....

I am a competitor and I think I am ready to hang up the trunks. When I started in this sport I had dreams of being like Arnold, like lot's of us have. But after 10 years of training and sacrafice I just don't see the point of chasing the bodybuilding dream. Why? I look at the current state of professional bodybuilding and there is no future at all, no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. ...

pros are not spending 150,000 getting ready for a show.. that much i can tell ya with absolute certainty.. not even close.. but, that being said bodybuilding at the pro level rarely makes anyone wealthy.. rionnie did well.. dexter does well, jay, and a few others.. but, you do not get into bodybuilding hoping to make a lot of money.. only a select few can or will do that.. compete for the fun of...

Do the ends justify the means? When I was a runner in high school I wanted to go to the Olympics. By the time I was running in college, I had realized that I wouldn't be going to the Olympics. I always wanted to keep running anyway, even though I would never be one of the elite, I still loved what I did. Fast forward through injuries that keep me from running much at all anymore, and I...

The original post says one thing to me...' What can I get from bodybuilding'? Guess what you get nothing! You do it for the love of the sport and if you don't love the sport don't do it. Everyone knows you don't get into BBING for money. There are a handful of guys making well into six figures but I garauntee you when they started BBING they didn't think 'I am going to make millions'. They ...

i dont think i could do bbing for money, i do b/c i love to train. and everything else that goes along with it. if i were doing for a paycheck i would hate it b/c then it would be work, but for me it is a great release and time to be by myself. and there is also alot of comrodery(sp) that comes along with bbing also. b/c when you see someone in the gym who is pushing themselves hard and eating ...

Hoss aren't you still like fishing/lobstering or something like that on the side? I may have you confused with some other GIANT up there in Canada?? Anyway, Bodybuilding has given me tons and tons of great stuff...and I will never be a Pro. I laugh where these guys always talk about investing all their money?? If you are not on drugs and don't spend a shitload on regular supplements ...

Swingslammer you have me confused with my canadian bro Santana Anderson who lives out east and is in the fishing industry. I am currently a full time bber and love every minute of it!

$$ 150 K on gear and food? Shit I don't think I have spent that much in my lifetime of training for 20 years. Damn. Where do people get this from? If bb'ers make no money how do they afford 150 K on gear and food etc? Credit cards? Gear stamps? They must be humping lots of grapefruits or water melons or something!!

Also I think the people that get into this for the $$ never make it past the local or lower national level. Like Hoss said -it's the love of the game that drives a true bb'er not in it to make $$ soley.
