Currently shooting JPEGS with a digital p&s.  Plan on moving up to a DSLR in 2007 and exploring with RAW.  Mainly shoot street scenes and urban landscapes.  I’m not particularly computer literate, nor do I want to spend a lot of time with post production.  My use/interest in computers is limited to surfing the Internet and typing letters.  My purposes for purchasing an image editor are mainly ...

I've used prior versions of both programs but am not familiar with the latest. If someone is familiar with PSP they will say its user interface is more intuitive, but cause to them it is. The same applies to PSE. I think that you will find the user interface is fine on either. A more significant hurdle will be learning the concepts-- layers, masks, levels, etc. I think that PSP is the more ...

I've tried PSE in the past, but have owned all but the very latest version of PSP. I think that in terms of functionality, it kicks PSE's butt, and it much closer to being equiivlent to the full blown ($$$) PS CS2.  Others will tell you differently, but IMHO, most photographers don't need to spend the megabucks that PS CS2 demands.  If you're looking to correct exposure, crop, resize, correct/...

Thank you all for your responses. When I move to a DSLR, it'll most likely be between a used Canon 20D (or whatever replaces the 30D, since I hear the 20D handles noise above ISO 400 much better than the 30D)  OR the new Pentax 10D.  The 2 reviews that I've seen on the new Pentax haven't been as great as I'd hoped however, the weather-resistant sealing and built in IS is still a huge plus at ...
