All/most of these things start life brown dont they? and go through different processes to become white ,my question is why way back when was this whitey practice invented? surely its more costly aswell as less healthy? whats the deal? people wouldnt of asked for it since they'd never had it. < Message edited by TrentReznik -- Jul. 26 2008 15:05:01 >

Refined foods used to be considered "posh" & "rich people's food", as refining out the fibre makes them easier to eat. People also thought that refined foods looked nicer than unrefined. Now we know that refining foods damages them nutritionally (by removing vitamins, minerals, EFAs & anutrients) so unrefined foods have made a comeback.
