Is there a proper way to pronounce "CHMOD"? | Thread profile

...the title basically says it all. Is there? C-H-MODD? Shmodd? Chh-Modd? I always use the second in the list, but I have trouble believing that's correct. =P Anyone here know? I looked it up, but couldn't find anything.

I--and most others I know--pronounce it: "See Aych Mod". You can also explicitly say what the command means: " Change Mode ".

I often switch between "shmod" and "cee-aych-mod."

since I dont pronounce 'chown' as 'shown', I figured I wont pronounce 'chmod' as 'shmod'.

I'm more of a chmod like church-mod and chown starts the same, ch-own But the questions of "proper" is a bit bizare. The point is to communicate, as long as you communicate to someone, its right.
