Today I came across a cycle lane covered with green coloured chippings instead of the normal reddish ones Does anyone know the meaning of this? I tried Google but once the words green & cycle go in the results are longer than my life span It is near the top of Portsdown Hill BTW, and the normal reddish ones continue after the brow

Green is the new red. Seriously, all new cycle lanes are going green due to the positive associations between 'green' and cycling. Pretty much all the lanes on my routes round London are green. Anyway, the advantage with green is that it doesn't contrast with grey tarmac, so drivers can ignore it at will <sigh> Whether red or green, the colour of a lane is (AFIAK) no indication of any legal restriction on the use of it.
