Alan Moore gets very upset about a lot of things that turn out very good. Watchmen is an excellent novel but its not sacred, it doesn't need to be treated as such.

Watchman itself is heavy with plot, maybe a little too much for a movie, it can be made into a movie. It's a risky move, but not impossible.
