Over the past 4 years, I have been drawing three-panel comics starring my friends and I in all sorts of crazy adventures. There is no plot, more along the lines of the funnies in the newspaper. But, I was wondering about publishing some newer comics using the same style. Spoons: -Would I fail to be published because I use stick figures?...

We-elll... first off, I believe that you would indeed face difficulties in getting published - because there is a general bias against stick figures. Basically, it all depends on your comic writing abilities. Because unless you are doing something crazily new and appealing with your figures -- people won't be looking at your comics for ...

Ahhh now that puts it in a slightly different light. I'm largely coming from an angle where I have seen a lot of online stick figure comics done very badly because there's no thought gone into the writing. Sorry - its late over here and my thoughts are cloudly. I'll go from the top. razz 1 - I dont think you would fail to be ...

I've seen stick figures used to good effect just once. There's a fairly popular comic called " Order of the Stick ." The trick I'm guessing is to balance the content of the comment with it's style. Also, even though it's all stickfigures, they are drawn in a fairly consistent and neat way.

as a fellow stick figure artist, i say go for it. granted, with simple art, your storyline really has to carry the weight. i make comics much like the ones you described. the main characters were all originally based of me and my friends, and the plot is very open and mostly comedic. so my question to you is this: have you ever had anyone...

Using stick figures, sprite art, clip art, photographs, static art reproduced in each panel, etc. usually count for some big points against a comic. But, all the same, there are some great comics out there that use each of those shortcuts. If your writing is good enough, you can definitely get people to forget that you haven't put any ...
