70s Marvel Comics...what were your favorites? | Thread profile

I totally love the Marvels from that decade, which was my prime growing up time reading comics. Marvel Two In Ones with The Thing were simply amazing as was Tomb of Dracula. Did you know Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan did the writing and art for the entire 70+ issue series of that book. I also dug some of the more bizarre team books like ...

My favorite was Conan the Barbarian...and later, Marvel's foray into black and white comics with "The Savage Sword of Conan." That was my first introduction to the whole Sword and Sorcery genre, and far more compelling than either of the Ah-nold movies. I have no particular favorite. there were too many good books and charactors then. on a sort of related subject what did you think of the original 1970`s run of howard the duck?

The three comix I remember buying were Sgt. Rock of Easy Co., Spiderman, and Batman.

Oh, The John Byrne-Chris Clairmont era for the X-men rocked. That and Marvel Teamup. Every issue had The Thing team up with the most unlikely characters.

Loved all the weird little titles they kept trying that just never seemed to really work. Omega the Unknown, Devil Dinosaur, Super-Villain Team-Up, Godzilla, Adventures into Fear...
