Yeah, I have to admit I always wondered why nobody figured out they were Fire Nation - particularly Zuko. Iroh's eyes are sort of golden brown enough to get by, but Zuko's got these bright yellow eyes - which as far as the show has shown us, only exist in the Fire Nation. Especially Jin, getting so close to his face, should have thought something was shady - but maybe she thought he was too ...

Also, I think the people were more WTF at the crazy melodramatic guy waving swords around than they were at the firebender accusation. Heh. The one thing all four nations can agree on is that Jet sucks.

Yeah, I think the Dai Li only takes an interest when people start talking loudly about the war, disrupting the order of the city and running the risk of making the King aware of the war's existence. Amongst the upper caste information is probably very tightly regimented, but I doubt they care what the poor and powerless know. Nobody in the noble's quarter ever sees them, after all. Yeah,...

I really hope that Zuko never loses his scar, it is so apart of who he is. It would be nice if they soften it up a little, just to get more expression out of both of his eyes. Wouldn't it be crazy if he didn't have it, no one would be able to recognize him.

About Zuko and Iroh I figure they can pass because with a hundred year long war it makes sense for some interbreeding amongst nations to have occured. By now there might be plenty of Earth Kingdom residents with yellow eyes.

Heh. The one thing all four nations can agree on is that Jet sucks. Ha! The hilarious (to me) thing about that scene is that Zuko and Iroh suck at subterfuge. They're on wanted posters all over the world, so how do they disguise themseves? By wearing green! Brilliant! But Jet manages to make his accusation sound so stupid that everyone's like, "Whoa, what? The shifty-lookin' burn-...
Penny Arcade weighs in. Heh. At this point, would you be surprised if that actually happened? I actually noticed something that slipped by me before. When Aang does that big wind burst that blows open the Temple's doors, he blows some fire nation soldiers off the cliff. I found that incredibly amusing. I'm going to laugh if movie!Aang, like series!Aang, does things that probably killed tons of nameless Fire Nation...
I grounded Kataras brother for example and it brought a great new overall tone to the whole movie. Sokka has his grounded moments, but he better be wisecracking'. The interview is interesting. I feel like I still want to see the movie to see what the fuck he comes up with.
Which reminds me, I'm often surprised that Sokka's and Katara's relative darkness is never remarked upon. Not that their world should have our, er, particular "beauty" standards, but on a purely practical level, how do the pair of them manage to infiltrate and blend in as much as they do? Maybe it's like in anime, where a single show's characters tend to be radically distinguishable due to hair...
I'm still disappointed my boy Daniel Dae Kim won't be Ozai. He would have been amazing. :/ Also, this casting is now just freakin' ridiculous. They're casting brown-skinned people as members of the Fire Nation? So now we have the dark skinned villains versus the already blue-eyed, and now light-skinned heroes. Good Lord, it's like this movie is taking place in bizarro world. I liked that Zuko was so pasty, it's...
I got hooked on the show via my friend's 10 year old son, whom my sister babysat. He would watch it everyday at our house. The first episode I saw was, "The Chase", mainly watching it out of boredom with him, but even then noticing how beautiful the animation was. That and how Azula was a ruthless beyotch....I mean, girlfriend, didn't feel not one ounce of remorse for frying her own uncle. The first episode I saw...
Are we back to casting complaints again? :p That pic of Zuko and the fire nation troops is not making me feel any better about this movie. You can barely even see the scar, and the uniforms look almost Mongolian instead of Chinese or Japanese, but maybe that's just because it's a cold weather uniform with a thick fur coat. Also, I see the decided not to use the topknot hairstyle or the skull-mask helmets. Not sure how I feel about...
I'm willing to admit there are multiple interpretations possible for characters and their actions, but I find it odd when Mai's actions are scrutinized and often the worse possible interpretations for her actions are taken as true. And now I find myself arguing the other direction, because I can't not bring this up. She is, technically, a villain. Just sayin'. ;-) Heh, yes. However, Zuko was a villain as well, and yet he...
If only we could get a show that had ara Strong and Grey DeLisle voicing everything, it owuld be the greatest show ever. With special guests Cree Summer and Jennifer Hale.
