Canada is so reliant on the United States for commerce that we follow them wherever they go. So in the end these bank protections will help but won't help a definite incoming recession in Canada.

That has nothing to do with moderate banking regulation preventing a mortgage crisis. Yes Canada's economy is prospering due to natural resources but it could have easily crumbled had it not been for the federal safe-guards that are in place to keep Canada's financial system in check.

@jerrycan You're damn right C-61 is some scary legislation and does nothing to acknowledge the realities of modern technology. I recommend the web site http://www.faircopyrightforcanada.ca/ to anyone interested in stopping this (although I am getting more pessimistic every day).

Slickwilly2 - I was going to rewrite it out but instead I will just copy and paste it.... Once again that is like claiming the house collapsed because of the poor facade...while ignoring the rotting foundation. The bad loans were bad, but it was what the bankers did with those bad loans, that is package them up and illusionary turn bad credit into great credit and then sell that - after they leveraged it to the hilt - all over the...

Nevotraz, enlighten me. I know what the Bank of Canada is. It even says so on their web site. I'm curious if what you are so smugly trying to point out, is in fact something I don't already know.
