What is the attitude generally, because i know you have rampart extreme christians, and in certain states i hear the age of consent is higher for gay men, and in certain states they don't allow civil partnership, how the hell can that happen !

Back when I was a student at WVU, I once took a psychology class taught by a brilliant educator and psychotherapist by the name of Phillip Comer. I can remember vividly how Dr. Comer would tell us that the barrier that separates rational thought from psychosis is paper thin. He told us that, if we lacked moral integrity and conscience, we could very quickly, and with very little ...

I've just had time to scan this briefly, but what I've seen is brilliant. I'm saving it to my archives to make sure I have a chance to read it in more depth when I have more time. This is why I keep coming back to this board. (It's so good to have you back with us.) When I was a teenager, being a non-conformist was a good thing, so peer pressure was never a problem for me. My ...

UPDATED Sun Aug 17 2008 20:44:05 Everything that garycottle says is true and I can relate to most of it. It's really too bad that so many heterosexual people will never experience this incredible adventure and revelation. Love and relationships and all that jazz are purported to be better if obstacles are overcome to begin and uphold them. It goes without saying that ...

That was a great read garycottle, you ought to write a book or something if you haven't already. I don't know how anyone could come away from reading that and still think that being gay is wrong.

I don't think there is a "general attitude" in America, because of the forces you mentioned. It also depends on where you live and what your industry or parents or peers are like. That said, things are unbelievably better than they were a decade ago -- all because of, in particular, popular stars and shows like Ellen DeGeneres, "Will & Grace", and "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy"; ...
Thanks Altaire. I'm glad to hear that you grew up with parental support. I think this is more important than general tolerance. Children need to know that their parents love them for who they are. It's great that you had that.
Wow. You're life should be made into a movie because it's so extraorinary. What a journey you have been through! I'm so glad you finally found happiness though, I only hope I can find someone I can be with for years and years.
UPDATED Sun Sep 7 2008 05:54:10 "Yeah, pretty much. Unless you're a fan of golf; that seems to be pretty popular >__>" Or Nascar. I live in the south too, Alabama to be precise. Where do you hail from, crawlfan ?? * * * * If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons?
True of course leftbanker, I agree, but it's still a bit of very expensive titillation isn't it? Best Wishes Sam "Jack leaned against the steady heartbeat"
Hi Sam - It is my belief that individuals and governments could, and almost surely would, spend the money on endeavors that I find less socially useful (if not in fact detrimental). Likewise for the time and effort of the (mostly young) athletes. Cheers! lb "Nothing personal. Your name just happened to come up."
