Gobsmacked. The urban area of Great Yarmouth has around 70,000 people meaning there will be one casino per 17,500 people if they all stay open. I thought the standard was one per 150,000 people meaning they have almost ten times saturation. I assume they are planning on making their money from all of the other revenue streams that you mention because unless they can close the other three ...

Skegness, and possibly Mablethorpe, are in East Lindsey, which is one of the other 16 new casino licence areas. I should know, I've done 3 summers between the two of them ....

I just don't get it at all. Aspers opened in Newcastle and the choice of venue was top class as it has the footfall and I believe that it has gone on to become one of the busiest casinos in the country in terms of footfall. Then they moved on to Northampton and Swansea, both places having a much greater population than Yarmouth and I understand that neither are performing particularly well. ...

I don't know the area at all and i'm not sure how much the area changes with the tourist season, hotel room space required etc etc. But it doesn't seem to stack up. I would assume that at least one if not two of the operations would be closed within 1-2 years. The question is costs. If the others own their own buildings for example then they could survive. Would also depend on how ...

alot of gt yarmouths business comes from the surronding areas, given that the next nearest casinos are southend, luton so with norwich and ipswich nearby, we do ok plus with new outer harbour being built and the roads into east anglia being improved i would imagine that it's not that strange. 4 casinos is a bit over the top mind you but the way my current general manager is running our club, it ...

Swindon wasn't a permitted area under the old act and wasn't selected by the Casino Advisory Panel for a licence under the new act. Didn't even make the CAP short list. So no chance of a casino for the foreseeable future.

In the 60's and 70's it used to be Mayfair or Knightsbridge where casino operators most desired to set up but now it's Great Yarmouth and as Kasyno points out, the other areas of the UK which were on the CAP's list of areas designated for future "Large" and "Small" operations. The EDP once again reports on casino plans in GY and this time it's the operator of the recently opened...

maybe its the prospect of offering up to 150 slots within the large casino that is the attraction? The existing operators with their 1968 Act converted licences are stuck with max of 20. that plus all the other bells & whistles that go with Aspers' concept presumably expect to make it the destination casino of the area. Big question is will it get the footfall?

I have sympathy with your dilemma Mr Shipping Magnate, I have been asked that many times working in the industry, Have i Dealt Punto Banco, It seems to be the first thing management ask you when you turn up for your first day, I also get asked "How long have you been in the industry", Where do you Live", "Describe yourself in 5 words, Do these people in authority look at peoples CVs, I dont think so. The...

But these "new" casinos cost 5 times as much as the "old" due to new costs and there in lies the problem. They need to make significantly bigger profits / margins. Hence places like the new Aleas, Isle , Casino Red , Bannantynes either close or are making huge losses ( apparently ).

Why should dealing or not dealing punto make one iota of difference to a FOURTH casino in Yarmouth?Unless its the only casino with the game in which case the other three will lose all their Chinese clientele. And then the game needs to be the real thing and NOT Punto 2000.

Just for the record let me categorically state that if ANYONE believes Dumfries and Galloway is the marketplace to be in, I will quite willingly join you all in the nut house.

As has been said before on here, i really don't understand how the plans got approved by the council. When the palace applied it was proven that there was no demand for a 3rd casino, but it got granted anyway and now with the present climate makes the council look greedy as no doubt they just looked at the pennies and pounds and the casinos are left to struggle sharing what little business is left. If the aspers joint venture goes ahead...
