BMS Data Tape Theft--Former emplyee needs info | Thread profile

I am a former sales rep, and just received a 3-page letter from BMS today. It states that there was a theft of a back-up data tape that contained personal info (names, addresses, DOBs, SS numbers, etc) of present and former employees, and that my data was included on this tape. Does anyone know how extensive this is? Have any present employees also received these letters? BMS states that ...

Interesting how no one else got this. I guess you are going to pitch your new credit monitoring service now? Or you must be an ambulance chaser going after his/her first case and hoping to bring home a little dough to your spouse? Either way, you are an idiot. Go sell crazy elsewhere, we are all stocked up here.

current employee here same letter received today. also noted in the letter is dependent information was also compromised

Not long ago many employees had their identity stolen because BMS was wanton with social security numbers. What a pain. It takes a long time to get everything straightened out. Think I will put a credit alert on my accounts just to be on the safe side. It annoys me that while I am so scrupulous with my personal information, it is my company that compromises me.

Gilead employee here and we copromote a HIV product with BMS and I just recieved the same letter!!

Well if they are going to abuse our trust and let confidential info fall into the wrong hands, then maybe we should start disclosing company secrets to the competition? a little payback.

This is so common in corporate America today. I really don't think Corporations know what to do. Most of this is coming out of Russia. We should have nuked them when we had the chance. We should have listened to Gen. Patton.

MJN rep here-got the same letter. Freaked me out a little,but makes me feel better they gave us an option to be part of a monitoring company for a year.
