I posted earlier about Dandi growling at a little dog that bit her nose. Today she growled at the neighbours dog - a really old little pomeranian - who was barking at her. Could this be a fear response because of the dog that bit her nose? Or could it be related to the fact that she's in heat? Also, is it safe to walk her when she's in heat? She's always leashed and where we walk is supposed ...

Females can become very tempermental during their heat. Just like a girl or woman can suffer PMS and want to rip peoples' faces off. I have walked Firefly during her heats, and I always carry a can full of pennies and shake them when a male feels brave enough to make a move on my dog. Sends em' runnin'! Fly is okay with the sound herself. Sometimes cherry bombs, little bags of rocks ...
