I was wondering if anyone here has visited and if so, which hotel did you stay at? I'm looking for a hotel around $300/night around either the SoHo area or Time Square. I stayed at the Holiday Inn in SoHo a couple years back but didn't want to pay that much this time around. thanks!

I really like the Mansfield on 44th Street. The rooms are small, but nice, and the staff is really nice and helpful. When I stayed on a long weekend 2 years ago, it was like $225/night. The advertised price has gone up significantly, but I'd bet that you could get it cheaper.

I stayed at the W Times Square when I was in New York to propose to my then girlfriend. It's a little steep even with the specials the W is running ( Fab Rate ). It was pretty much right in the middle of everything, and the bar downstairs was pretty cool.

My wife works in NYC a lot. I asked her and her reply is below. An interesting hotel is the “New Yorker” which is owned by Sheraton. It is right across the street from Madison Square garden. The Marriott by the World Trade center had a special a few months ago for less than $200 night because of the extensive construction at Ground Zero. If you look at Travelocity on-line you could ...

Just go to the Plaza Hotel, it's a landmark in New York. but I stayed at the Millennium Hilton right next to Ground Zero and the room was pretty sweet, huge panoramic windows that allowed you to see everything, nice 42 inch plasma.
