I have an XPS420 running Vista Home Premium with an audio issue.  I have a stereo system external to the computer that I use for creating wav or mp3 files from old tapes and vinyl LPs.  I am attempting to learn to use Adobe Soundbooth CS3 for that purpose (another story!).  When Soundbooth is running, I can hear the music through my computer speakers, but I cannot hear the music ...

Are you using the "Line In" jack for the external sound input or are you using a special interface and the Soundbooth software?  If you are not using the "line in" that could be the problem.    I use the free Audacity program for recording to the hard drive from external sources such as my stereo system.  Audacity HERE Home Built Intel DP35DP M/B and ...
