I originally posted this in the XPS forum. Got no answers I own an XPS 730 with the Creative SB X-Fi ExtremeGamer. It does not show "Stereo Mix" or "What you hear" in the control panel's "Sound" under the recording tab. I have "Show Disabled Devices" checked, and still no good. I installed the latest drivers from Creative, and still have the problem. I like to record sounds ...

This has been an known issue with the Dell OEM Integrated Audio (on the motherboard) but I didhn't know it was an issue with the optional SoundBlaster Xfi's. Have you tried downloading the Retail Xfi drivers from SoundBlaster? Maybe that will get it?? The Audigy SE, being a Retail device with Retail drivers and software will work. Many that bought new PC's with the Integrated ...

Hello Fireberd. I see you're a fellow musician. I've been a Bass Guitarist since 1969. Well anyway, I did install the latest drivers for the retail X-fi with no luck solving the problem. Originally my Inspiron 531 had the same problem with it's onboard audio. So installed a retail SB Audigy SE and it still wouldn't work. Then I found a fix. I had to check "disabled devices" under ...

I wonder if you completely uninstalled all the Xfi drivers and other Dell/SoundBlaster audio software now on the PC, restart the PC (don't skip the restart) and then install the Retail if it would make a difference? It's just a stab in the dark but worth the effort. My main instrument is the Pedal Steel Guitar but in the 60's I played lead guitar and played bass in a New Orleans...

"I'm one step ahead of you I've already tried that. I just may get a retail card, and not anything from Creative. I think I just experienced the screeching sound so many have experienced with their Dell installed X-Fi cards. It was pretty loud. It's a good think I was quick on the volume control. My speakers are expensive (Monitor Audio 700 Gold MKII ) driven with 125 Watts per ...

Thanks RChris, I will search the posts. As I said in my original post, I was able to get it to work on my Inspiron 531 after I installed a retail Audigy SE with the latest Creative Drivers, and selecting "Show Disabled Devices" under the Record tab under "Sound" in the Control Panel. Since both computers are in the same room, It's not the worst thing. I'll deal with it. Hopefully someone will...

Asus has a new "do all" sound card out. There was a post by a user that has installed one but there was no feedback on how it worked. There are many using Retail SB Xfi cards without problems. I don't know what the issue is with Dell's. I'm using an older Audigy 2 Platinum EX sound card. It has a separate external I/O console with all the inputs and outputs that I have on my Desk. I...

WITH ALL DUE RESPECTS, I SAW EVEN A RETIRED NAVY NOTICING HE HAD NO STEREO MIX ON HIS NEW XPS SYSTEM. IT'S JUST TOO PATHETIC IMHO. FOR HOW MANY PEOPLE MAY HAVE YOU MADE THEIR LIFES WORSE? YOU SHOULD PAY FOR THAT. Message Edited by VengeanceHand on 09-02-2008 08:18 PM
