Hi Sometimes I get this message regarding my Wireless network adapter: This device could perform faster if you plug it into high-speed USB port (something like that). I have my adapter pluged in in the back of my PC and I don't have a clue which port is the fast one. What can be done here and how can I detect which port is the fast one? Thanks

Its likely that your computer has USB 1.1 ports. The device can perform at the USB 2.0 which is the newer, faster standard. Hence why your getting such messages. But basically both ports look exactly the same. They look like.. well.. USB ports

Not likely to have USB 1.1 and USB2 on same computer. (At least I have never heard of it).

Sometimes just trying another port is the trick. And, no, it's very unlikely that you have mixed 1.1 and 2.0 ports. It's just a Windows thang.

USB 2.0 is way faster than USB 1.1, and Windows lets you know when you have a USB 2.0 device connected to a USB 1.1 port. However, it is not smart enough to look to see of you in fact have any USB 2.0 ports. You could very well not have any, yet it still bothers you all the time. I don't think there is any way to turn this 'feature' off. I have worked on computers that only have USB 1.1,...
