I completely agree with the view. I think it could be a great device. Why Isn't There a Sirius iPod? http://tinyurl.com/6hjpgr What could possibly be better? Satellite radio for variety with programmed channels, combined with the best portable digital music/media player available. So why has this not happened yet? Good question. But the marriage of these two devices is compelling...

Was reading the comments in the link, but saw this entry: Apple will never put SiriusXM on their device. Here is why, I have had a portable XM player for a few years now. My girlfriend and I have the Inno and Nexus. When a song comes on that I like, I dont have to illegally download or go to Itunes to pay 99 cents for it. I just press record and I have it! Full song, title and all. I ...

"I completely agree with the view. I think it could be a great device." Well I agree with the view that it would make an iPod better (at least wrt my gadget desires) BUT Sirius already has an LCD screened portable radio/radio recorder/MP3 player on the market that has Sat or WiFi service connectivity (Stiletto 2) and can record radio content i.e. 10 hours worth of individual songs ...

Why bother? The newest iPod Touch and iPhone products have streaming radio capability via Pandora, AOL Radio and perhaps one or two other applications. Adding satellite capabilities would seem almost redundant to me.

"Why bother? " Content. (is king) - We who pay for sat radio do so because of the exclusive content as much, if not more so, for just having a general source of commercial-free* music (*at least with Sirius). Much of this is exclusive sports/league coverage and the rest talk personalities & uncensored content. FWIW since subscribing (Sirius) it's pretty rare that I access the 200GB of...

"Interesting. My experience is the converse. I was an enthusiastic sat radio subscriber (Sirius) and listener, extolling the virtues of the system, enjoying travelling long distances across country tuned all the time to my favorite sounds, either music or NPR (National Public Radio) ... ...and then I broke down and got an iPod, put my music on it, started getting podcasts of (almost ...

Here's another reason I don't think we'll see an integrated iPod/Sirius device: There are a total of about 20M subscribers of Sirius and XM combined (as of a report from last month). While those numbers aren't necessarily something to sneeze at, that's less than 1/5 of the iPod user base. It doesn't seem to be that it'd be worth the added cost/weight/etc. of the device to integrate ...

"So, satellite radio users could have the same option the FM radio listeners have -- an add-on dongle (he said "dongle") that could receive Satellite radio. " And then a battery pack to power it? (parasitic peripheral FM receivers being compared don't need much juice) I think a kludged on module kinda defeats what would be the (if any) base interest in a well integrated media device. ...

And then a battery pack to power it? It should be able to use the iPod's built-in battery. And, if that presents a battery problem, then it's the same problem that the built-in version would have. what would be the (if any) base interest in a well integrated media device Which was mainly my point. I don't know that there's enough of a base interest to justify it. Not every Sirius...
