Went to test drive a V6 Prado last Saturday. Dealer was telling me that Toyota are bringing in the common rail version end Nov, if I could wait. Same engine as in the SR5 it seems. No have any further info as to design etc. and neither could I get any hits in google or wheels mag on-line. Just wondering if anyone has any sneak info.

Rubin Yep - I have also seen the same reports on a number of sites about November. It's about time. All other manufacturers have had them for years. Did the dealer give any clues about pricing?

After a little cajoling from me, well actually quite a lot, I convinced father in law to buy a near new Prado for the next stage of his automotive career. We went for a petrol version, reasoning on a possible gas conversion further down the track, mainly cos the existing diesel is, in my view a little anemic. Test towing both the boat and caravan one after the other, both similar weights, ...

Got a common rail turbo diesel hilux, love the engine. Good power, great economy, hardly notices 1.5 tonne of boat behind, seems to hold 100-110 up the hills in 4th. Rarely see 3rd when towing uphill, unless I am too slow to begin with. Drinks diesel over 130 kmh, will hold 160 kmh with ease, not game to take it any faster, the handling isnt that good.

Thanks guys, A friend opted for the V6 for the very same reason. His old 3L diesel struggled underload with family and camper trailer. My boat is less than 1 tonne, so no problem there. I expect the common rail will give it the lower torque for beach driving. Very stressful doing beach with the old Forerunner I had. Not getting any younger, so looking for something that makes beach fishing as ...

Early next year apparently, can't remember the kw/nm figures but they were quite healthy. I'd reckon the price will be a real shocker though, they're already pretty exxy for what you get I think, a twin? turbo v8 diesel from toyota wont be cheap...

Twin tubo v8 ? im starting to get all warm and fuzzy! No nothing from toyota is cheap, but it is "king off the road" Ill bet it will be a huge seller, the f250 isnt cheap but people ate them up,at least the cruiser will fit in 1 standard parking bay and wont need to be heli lifted if you get it bogged.
