I'm glad there's so much discussion on this board. . .I had really mixed feelings about the movie and there's some good stuff being brought up. It seemed to me to be a film with a ton of new-filmmaker problems, but with some quirky, enjoyable parts along the way. However, I could not STAND the cop-out narration! I have to agree with the OP here. I really felt like her voice over was unnecessary... Then again, I felt like the whole movie was a waste of time. I thought she did a horrible job of making the audience care/sympathize with these characters. I thought they were really awful for each other and should have found someone better. The whole film just felt like Julie Delpy propaganda....

I didn't like the movie on the whole, but did think there were a few good (yet under-developed) ideas in the mish-mash. The voice-over especially irritated. I didn't mind it so much as a stylistic device at first but agree with the OP that the ending was a cop-out. I did, however, wonder if the original script contained this voice-over. I couldn't help thinking that Delpy had shot...
