Finally got around to checking / replacing the filters on my '99 LX. WOW! Were they D I R T Y!!! Take a look at one of them in comparison to a new one.......' spect those have been in there since they left Japan, huh?

Wow, mine looked fairly decent when I replaced it. Perhaps that is your original filter. Do you notice any improvement in your climate control system now that you have a new filter?

When I changed the cabin filter in my previous car, there was the same black to white difference after only a year's use. I guess it depends a lot on the driving conditions, especially if you use it a lot in city traffic or any other high air pollution environment. Elsewhere it is more likely to get clogged by dust, sand, pollen etc. than by black exhaust and smoke particles.

I'm a bit disappointed. These filters are worthless, as they don't seal well. When I cleaned up the car after my last trip, I was surprised as there was sand coming out of the ventilation. Today I took the filters out. There was dust everywhere. My opinion is: if you are satisfied with their performance, you don't really need them And: if the engine filter would be so poorly constructed, ...

They was a suprising amount of stuff to vaccum out, but none the less the new filters looked the same as the ones on here and similar to the ones in my ES. I really don't think ths type of filter is terrible effective. If it had a charcoal filter infront of it maybe. But the more effective the filter, the more pressure/suction needed. I think that is why there are several fans around the Charcoal activated carbon filter in the LS that...

I think the 98-00 LC's have the filter door, some '01's have it. After that, I'm guessing the LC's don't have it. Maybe someone w/ a 03/04 LC could check.
