Quote from: 23 yrs in Inwood (aka 18, etc.) on 11/27/09, 18:23 Close, but no cigar. This thread isn't about North Harlem, either. It's about Mexican restaurants somebody living in WaHI could easily get to, and Kilgore pointed out that some of the very best and cheapest places are on Broadway between 140th & 150th--and yes, Bloo--that can be described as North Harlem, or Northwest if you prefer. ...

The word on the street is that they were closed down for selling drugs. I heard from a friend yesterday that the cops arrested a whole bunch of people, including some employees, yesterday. I haven't be down there today, but somebody posted on my FB page that it was shuttered with official sounding notices from the NYPD up. By the way, I have the impression that Goya brand split peas dissolve a little more readily in pea soup than Jack Rabbit brand split peas, although I don''t know why that would be. (Different varieties or cultivars, maybe?) And, as indicated above, presoaking split peas, while not technically necessary, or even suggested in recipes, also greatly helps their dissolving. ...

I think Bush knows that his presidency has been so bad that the only way he can make it seem less bad to history is by making sure that the next president has an even bigger mess to deal with (created by him, of course, but history will only note whether the next president succeeds or fails).

Whether it's the perceived snideness or sarcasm in the use of the emoticons, or the harshness of the words that precede them, why grant to such posts the power to anger you? Anger, I have come to believe, is never something that happens to us. Anger is an activity that we do . Things in life often don't go as we want. Our needs and desires get thwarted. Our initial reaction to ...

''Pamuk's international breakthrough came with his third novel, ' The White Castle.' It is structured as an historical novel set in 17th-century Istanbul, but its content is primarily a story about how our ego builds on stories and fictions of different sorts. Personality is shown to be a variable construction,'' the academy said. http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/books/AP-Nobel-...

Call the service number on your bill. As for delays in changing channels, I haven't experienced anything new like that. (But I still have an analog cable box from many years ago.) *** BTW, I did once have a TV set (not...
