Michael Jordan is a grade A dickhead - always has been. If he played today he'd blend in rather nicely with some of the other a-hole stars. I agree with Wruff though that this is often part of the makeup of star players (especially in the nba). Most star players are dickheads but some (Magic for instance) was able to seperate the on the court guy from the off the court guy. Michael, for whatever reason, was never able to do that....

I agree with you all that a lot of it is in the hands. Still compare EVH's tone over the years. Maybe age, time, differences in your approach.. whatever.. could change things but one reason EVH's tone has changed(and that old brown sound is Gone")is becuase of gear. So in time, if not already(I wouldn't know) technology may truly capture tones like this perfectly. I'm also pretty much from the school of get a tone...

Well in this day and age I would be shocked if there are that many people trying to cop Vanhalens brown sound. When you think about it it is 22 years since VH1 came out and unless you are playing in a cover band I think most people should be looking for there own tone.
