I think.. I need a favor from you. is much better And on the same lines, i would recommend the second one. Also i have seen some usages such as following: a) I need to ask a favor of you. b) I need to ask a favor from you. Now, whether "have" instead of "need" can make a difference..?? dunno..!!

I assume that you did conclud upto the fact that neither statement is sufficient in itself. Hence taking it forward from there. Together: 4.5>x+y>3.5 1.5>x-y>0.5 Adding both the above inequalities we get. 6>2x>4 Hence 3>x>2. All we know is that x is between 2&3 but we do not know whether it is nearer to 2 or 3. My answer is E.

I do not have a correct answer. However, my way is following:
Number less than 10,000 will have 4 digits: XXXX. Following are possibilities of arrangement of these digits.
1) One meaning number: [5,0,0,0] --> 4!/3! = 4
2) Two meaning numbers:
[1,4,0,0] --> 4!/2! = 12
[2,3,0,0] --> 4!/2! = 12
3) Three meaning numbers:
[1,1,3,0] --> 4!/2! = 12
[1,2,2,0] --> 4!/2! = 12...

3) I'm not really sure...this question is oddly phrased...
what it seems to be asking is the conditional probability that the die shows 6 given that guy says 6. well, if it is a 6, p(6)=1/6. p(truth) =3/4 so p(6 and truth) = 3/24 = 1/8
then we need p(~6) = 5/6 and p(~truth) and p(says 6 given ~6)....I think to actually provide an accurate answer you'd need to use Bayesian updating, and we...

Probability of Dave getting selected = getting selected as first student+ getting selected as second student.
P(Dave as first student)=1/4
P(Dave as second student)= 3/4*1/3=1/4
IMO,Total probability=1/4+1/4=1/2.
Is this correct??

I think i figured it out. the growth from 1980-1987 is 1980*(1.042) while 1.042=(annual growth)^7
so approximation of annual growth = (1.042)^1/7 ~1.006 (calculator gives 1.0058...so this is very close)
so, just divide .042/7 and get .006, so growth /year = 1.006 so 7672*1.006 = 7718 =>7716 is closest

So here's my reasoning:
The advertisement's argument is that since 3 out of 4 hospitals give their patients Novex, it must be the most effective painkiller for sinus pain. This implies that the proportion of hospitals that give their patients a drug is a direct indication of that drug's efficacy. We want to undermine this ...
