Park safety switch ?
Published (2009-11-19 10:51:00)
The switch on my '06 failed at just over 36k miles, ie just out of warranty. It was "adjusted" by simply removing it from its mount on the steering column and zip tying it to the column so that it remained electrically connected but disabled. I always thought it was a stupid and annoying feature anyway and prefer driving without it.

Prestone II is as good as any. I also mix the antifreeze 50/50 with tap water, which is good clean city water. Folks with hard and/or high iron content well water may consider using distilled water.

Cowboy, my 99 with 181k developed a small oil leak at the t-case to block right below the water pump. I figured I'd get the KDP tab kit KILLER DOWEL PIN KIT ('89-'93 and '98.5-'02 DODGE)-Dodge Cummins Diesel Truck Accessories Genos Garage from Geno's and go for it. The dowel in my truck was solid, didn't budge a bit when I tapped on it with a drift and hammer. But, since I was there anyway it got...

Looks like about 35,000 miles out of mine. They've been on two CTD's with cabover campers 24/7. The first 20,000 by my friend with zero rebalance/rotation. 10,000 on mine with three rebalances/rotations. A little harder rubber compound would be nice though. The Dura Grapplers may be next. They felt very safe when we were up Seafish's way with those straight down cliffs.

My 2001.5 has the fixed case, but I have heard of many 2001's that still did not. The best thing you can do is pull the timing cover off and check to be sure.

Yes, I have had one installed for a couple of years. My return goes to my top radiator hose and uses an adapter in the hose to plumb the return line in. Also uses a needle valve in the feed to control the amount of coolant that you send that way. I have not seen any loss in heating ability but I use a winter front in the colder part of winter cause my truck always seemed to take a long time to ...

Do you let it idle to help it warm up? Extended Idle time can cause fuel dillution as well.

Have had a Meyer's plow for over ten years on my 95. I plow my long drive and the one next door. Also my sister's a few miles away. I try not to leave or travel long distances with plow on. It's real heavy for the front end with the Cummins but I have not seen any ill effects with the little use it gets from my few jobs. I would think that, as you use it more you would see more things wearing ...

Question 1. Don't know but DTT,ATS,SunCoast,Goerend are the top four aftermarket trans builders for diesels. From what I've read low stall convertors put out more pressure at low rpm and that is where you max torque comes in on 12 valves. Of course it depends how you set your engine up.
Question 2. Get a factory service manual ( Geno's Garages sells them).
Question 3. ...

My truck with the original 48RE transmission now has 117,000 miles. I have the Edge Juice with Attitude and never run more than the 'tow' setting. For the past 4 years we have been fulltime RVing, so a fair amount of towing our heavy fifth wheel across the country back and forth. I have never had any service issues with the transmission...standard fluid and filter replacement, no adjustments ...

I went from 285-70-17's to 285-75-17 Toyo At's and did feel the increase in diameter. I'm just carrying the 2,000# camper but did feel a slight decrease in power. I'm using the Smarty Sr. on sw#1 and need it. The "75"s fill up the wheel well nicer, but the "70"s might preserve your towing ability better. With my g-56 and 3.73's,I have the equivalent of an auto with 4.11's. Another size compromise...

I just installled the replacement pump from Geno's on my 03 and it came with an inline filter that installs with the new pump and fueline. Not sure what micron the filter is but it made since to me to stop the junk from the tank before it gets to the pump.

Did you purchase the Toy Hauler new? If so it came with ST tires, which are total junk and will fall apart soon. Get shorter LT tires. Flipping the axles is a good thing, especially since you have a 4WD. It's almost always done with 4WD. You may want to speak to one of the factory reps at Northwood Mfg about your dilemma.
My 08 Arctic Fox 5er came from the factory with the axles ...

Mark,
I sent an e-mail to Geno's to consider these additives based on your find. I know I would use the DFX-DPF formula.
Great find! More info: Fuels for Cummins Engine Service Bulletin 3379001-17 See pg 17, item 11.

Is it a Cali truck? Maybe a failing cat?
But since your in AR probably not. Try a good injector cleaner for a few tanks.

interesting... may have to try this on my 06... Only thing I've found that works is to drive it two footed and keep the brake lights lit up.
