Re: New 8 gallon BioCube (New to Saltwater) Are you planning on keeping corals? If so, most people who keep corals try to keep the SG around 1.024-1.026 which is closer to the SG actually seen in most ocean reef systems. Corals tend to do better at this SG. __________________ Shannon "My Momma always said, life was like a box of live rock........you never know what you're gonna get."

Here are a couple of photos taken by Cabolick with a Sony Cybershot DSC-S50. It has a fixed ISO of 100, 2.1mp, an apature range of f2.8-f2.9, Shutter range of 8sec-1/725th. It is a fairly limited camera when it comes to controls, But look at the pictures that were taken. And you can still buy this camera for only $65. Photography doesnt have to be expensive.

Yeah, They are not reliable test kits. I use API for all parameters except
for Magnesium cause they don't make one. I use Salifert for that.

The reef epoxy putties are safe
Super glue gel is safe - any glue whose active ingredient is cryanocyolate (may have mis-spelled) will work

Hi Jonny, you should get Live rock (LR), about 8 or 10lb. And sand, it could be live or not. You will need about 1" to 2" of sand at bottom.
Also you need a salt mix.
After you complete all these you will need to cycle your tank, it takes a little more time than in FW tanks but is basically same thing.
In order to give a check list you should do this:
1.- drain all water from tank.
2.-...

heat water to tank temp, aerate and circulate water then start adding salt
slowly Over a period of 24 hrs it should be correctly mixed with maybe a
slight residue left behind, check salinity at the 24 hr time and adjust as
necessary, a refractometer is the best $30 you'll ever spend in this hobby.

I have a high end smith medium duty co2 regulator, brass bubble counter, ideal needle valve, and clippard solenoid along with a 20lb co2 tank. I know tank is huge but less I have to refill it.
