Published (2009-11-26 21:17:00)
Well, I don't know what it is. I could go look at my car, but it is dark and raining at the moment. However, it definitely is not for a transmission dipstick because there isn't one on a 5spd prelude.

I have the exact same problem right now as well about the engine "hunting" until it warms up a bit. I talked to a mechanic over at Honda and he said it was the Fast Idle Thermo Valve. Its this little part that just under the throttle body. He said that if you take it off and clean it with some Intake/Carb Cleaner it should be fine again. Now...I bought the service manual straight from Honda...but...

More info. Now I dscovered that the 3 code must have been a dormant code because the PGM-FI light never came on the whole 800 miles up here.
This morning the PGM-FI light came on and flashed a 12 code.
Please help me out, i'm stranded.
Cheers

i wash my aem filter in mild dishsoap and water then place in the sun to
dry. Dont use a heat source to dry it as it can destroy the filter
material. Air dry only.

I wouldn't worry too much about it as there aren't any liquids that could
leak out from there. However, since you have it out, might as well take it
to a weld shop and have them weld it up. I had a hair line crack in my oil
pan which I had welded up from both inside and out. Only thing is, if
you're gonna have it welded you'll need to thoroughly degrease it first.

Before you get into any modding, please be aware:
The 5th gen automatic tranny is complete junk and a near guarantee of failure. What's your mileage?
edit: and the correct spelling is acutally 'VTEC'. There's no hyphen.

If the clutch was slipping, you would probably know it. Rpms would spike when shifting or accelerating, and a burning/slipping clutch produces a very distinct smell.

The typical " 5th gear grind"...happens to a lot of the 5th gens trannys.
I'm pretty sure you can replace the synchro alone...but you still ahve to drop the tranny and do some work.
There is no cheap/easy way around this.

You. Stop sitting in it while you drive. that should save some good weight.
Anyways. Weight savings could start with carbon fiber parts...or gutting your car. Those are the most popular. Gut your engine bay; take out everything you dont need.
Your back seats are heavy and in my car are never used, however you said you wanted the interior left alone.
You could also think about ...

Clear.
Oh, and it's preferance. So expect a bunch of members to come in here saying how it's what you want and not them and how their opinions really don't matter since it's your money.
