McCain's speech as stagecraft was ho-hum. As strategy it was excellent. It was a needed new direction. The decision to select Palin and emphasize reform instead of experience was correct. The addition of "fighting" set forth in the speech was also good. The voters want change. McCain has a great chance of showing how two candidates who have been fighting the system all their careers...

If Josh Marshall and friends figured this one out correctly, hoo boy . In reply to: A lot of people were asking tonight: what the hell was that mansion up behind John McCain tonight during the first part of the speech? As I noted below, the TV close-ups only showed McCain's head against the grass in the picture, which made it look like he was reprising his famed green screen performance....

I now agree with others that Palin is no more than a distraction. A distraction from the GOP's attempt to REBRAND McSAME AS McCHANGE. I fell for it. Until I listened to McCain tonight. Think about the GOP Convention: Bush was seldom mentioned and didn't attend. Cheney? Same No Republican signage at the convention. GOP theme for the future? Change. Change. and more maverick ...

After seeing both conventions I am interested to hear what folks think the polling numbers will show early next week. Obama got a little bump that I think was negated by a very good strategy of putting Palin out the morning after and stealing the Obama thunder. While I think that CLEARLY it is vastly more important to look at state by state races I simply want to focus on the overall ...

I'm sure this has been addressed, and I just missed it, but now that Nobis's number is "retired", are they still gonna do the #60 thing for our star linebackers? Post Extras:

South Carolina is supposed to be one of those solid teams in the SEC this year. After struggling with a bad NC State team, they manage to lose to Vandy last night for the second straight year. Their QB's have thrown for something like 7 INT's in two games. They were rated in the Top 25, mostly because the media likes Spurrier. However, we'll hear how this is an example of why the SEC ...

So it would seem that CO2 has little effect on climate warming after a certain point....if this guy is correct. CO2 and temperature questioned? does this count as a "real" scientist?: The Link granted he is an engineer, but his specialties seem to allow for a reasonably informed opinion on climate science..... So I ordered Direct TV last week to get Sunday Ticket. I had it a couple of years ago, and was excited to get it back now that I have a house. WELL....my installation was cancelled. After two days of calling trying to get to the special department that I needed to talk to, I finally found out the problem. Apparently, back in 2004 someone had Direct TV at my address. They let their ...

I went to lunch around 1 and I saw people already camped out for tailgating spots at the state lot on the corner of MLK and San Jac. (where the old HF tailgate was). I can see camping out on Friday morning, but early Thursday afternoon?! I hope for their sakes they are not noobs trying to bogart long-standing tailgaters' spots. If so, this will not end well for them....

FYI, UTEP is getting hammered by Buffalo 42-17 w/ about 3 minutes left in the game. Although I am still weary about playing UTEP in El Paso, I feel a little more comfortable now. Post Extras: | |
