Quick question about carb vacuum...
Published (2009-11-15 17:22:00)
Wow, i just got done adding that ball and holy doggie doo what a world of difference it makes. It was the one that goes near the SVC beside the venturi in the carb. I also changed out the float needle and reset the float level to 1 3/32 like its supposed to be...think i had the wrong needle valve in it, the sorensen kit came with 3 of them. It revs and cranks like a whole new car now, i guess raising the float level really helped.

What kind of seats fit in the 67...
Published (2009-11-14 18:42:00)
shouldnt be too hard to make them fit. if you have the seat tracks then it is a matter of drilling the needed holes and bolting them down. if not then you can either get the right seat tracks or a universal set of seat tracks from some place like summit racing.

Here's a link to some Carter YF info; it has more links to chase as well. http://www.film.queensu.ca/CJ3B/Tech/Carburetor.html The Haynes manual for the 73-79 Fords is tolerable; tolerable, not great. It does have good electrical schematics. The Chitlin's has more carb info but not a lot more. I have a shelf full of manuals, I never get rid of them. Joe

I don't know about the checkballs, but you should be able to re-use the carb gasket no problem, as long as it doesn't tear as you disassemble. Not a bad idea to put some vaseline or even lip balm on carb gaskets for just that reason.

battery keeps draining
Published (2009-11-15 10:30:00)
Regulator? Un hook the battery and then hook a light bulb between the battery and cable you just unhooked. If there is a load / drain the light will light. Pull out the fuses and un hook things till the light goes off. The brighter it lights the larger the drain is. If you have a good multimeter you can use that instead of the light. The meter usually requires plugging into different jacks so check your manual if you are not sure how it works....

Adjustable Rockers?
Published (2009-11-14 13:16:00)
Well, I ordered a lifter removal tool last night, I go pick it up today. Got a small parts washer too, so hopefully while I am working on scrubbing the head and pushrod areas, it will be getting the gunk out of the moving parts! I'll have to see what happens with any collapsed lifters before I proceed. I don't have an oil pan gasket, but I do have some sealant (Permatex Black) that I can use on the old gasket for now. I am hoping...

Other than the heads. They are the same internally. But, the Later block might have less wear and tear on it.

That V6 is a crap engine. 302 is the small block standard, tons of hi-po parts out there. You will get more response if you use the "return" key and separate your sentences. Some folks are put off by the difficulty of reading run-on sentences with crappy punctuation.

It can't hurt to try it. Be careful not to tear the gasket on disassembly, or overtighten on reinstallation.

You're right. Pressure doesn't know directions Just install a brass "T" fitting in the port. Screw the gauge sender into one of the ports and the pressure switch into the other. It's actually not a bad idea. If your pressure dropped, a gauge wouldn't get your attention as quickly as a red light. -Stu

What is it that is involved in your pricing out the replacement loadomatic distributor? That price is redicoulously high, unless your wanting to replace it with a DUI which i can understand but there comes a point where ya gotta make do with what ya can afford . I would say at this point unless your suspension is in dire need (like you can wobble the damn wheel more then an inch cause of ball ...

Oh yeah, I was also wondering about how I am going to do my exhaust. I know there is a ton of exhaust threads over on the ford trucks forum, but I really dont care about the sound. Right now I am running straight through exhaust and love it. I was talking to my muffler guy and he said it would be the same price if I wanted straight duals from the manifolds back(he's a good friend) and was ...

i assume you are talking about fuel economy, my falcons both got about 19 all the time, but they were basically stock engines, one with a 2100 autolite carb installed with an adapter. with the right selection of parts, and judicious driving, you can top 30mpg. however the average is going to be around 23 or so.

Since it starts and runs for a while, then dies inexplicably, then starts again after standing a brief while, you probably have rust fouling the fuel intake in the tank. Rust flakes or particles gather around the mesh filter and sticks fast as fuel is sucked up. When it stops, they fall off until they are sucked up again. Check the fuel intake filter and/or clean out the tank by removing it and ...

start by pulling the exhaust manifold and checking it for straightness. sometimes they warp and you get a bad exhaust leak. also check it for cracks. the one on my 64 falcon is cracked in three places.
