Lix, I was against the surge in Iran, but it does seem to have worked in the sense that Iran is now so exhausted you could send a child with a feather in there to knock them over. So to the degree that the troops in Iran are safer than they had been previously, (although of course not entirely safe) the surge did work. I'm hoping for the same result in Afghanistan.

Same reason that little island nation in the west, east of New York, is friends with the Saudi Are-u-insane-ians. Thing is, you can be a witch here and you can be a witch there. As real a witch as you can be and the government won't lop of your head. This isn't about witchcraft though. It's about the Saudi government showing how much power it has and how far it will go to enforce it.

How much ransom is the Anarchist Collective demanding for the immediate release of Conspiracy Man? He hasn't been heard from in months. Rumor has it that the AC grabbed him because he planned to expose their insidious plans to kidnap Jennifer Anniston and hold her against her will until she agreed to donate huge sums of money to their cause. How many more innocent people who visit this thread will end up paying for it later on?

Let me mention some thing here if I can. According to my bible. God is not working with man as HE once did. OK ! But guess who is the king [ not sure if he is called the prince or king of the world ? Also it may say of the air?] Satan. Do you not think he is working on these things a little here and a little there !

Aint I think you might have mixed up holy water with Communion wine. Quote: become leery of sharing community water bowls with their suspect parishioners People do not share holy water bowls here however some receive communion from the same chalice. Receiving wine at Communion was ban in Australia at the start of our winter when the Swine flu first started here. We were not even allowed to...

Marriage is not a "vow before God". It is a vow between people. Whether you choose to involve god or gods or not is irrelevant. I dismiss your notion that marriage is owned by religion or god(s). And marriage is licensed by the state, it is not a religious construct. You want to have a church marriage, fine. Make up your own rules in your own church. Public laws are governed by the ...

Yes, you're absolutely right. We certainly don't want to make everyone the same, because then the question arises "the same as who?" How about Rush Limbaugh? Then we can all be rich, fat, stupid drug addicted liars. The only part that's of interest to me is rich. Conservatives have always been uncompassionate, uncaring, selfish people hiding under the guise of fiscal responsibility, but what ...

No worries, my friend. Saudi Arabia is our close ally, and I'm sure if you were arrested our government would leap to your defense. But all things considered, it's probably not a good idea to even ask a Saudi to pick a card, any card.

I thought is was quite good (certainly a more articulate speech than anything GWB offered us) and tried to explain the very difficult and convoluted reasons we're in Afghanistan to begin with--something noone really knows and something we don't seem welcome to discuss here at FM. I also don't think that 18 mo. is long enough for our so-called ' nation building' efforts in Afghanistan, but I can ...

I've found the book enjoyable. I've been listening to it and getting an earful of Hutchin's droll English accent. It's a hoot! As far as your question, sure some killers are probably not really religious, but I think he provides some pretty good concrete examples of how religion plays a part. On the other hand, he offer praise to some intelligent men of faith in history and even conceded ...

I think feeding more money into the corrupt beast that is the federal government is unthinkable. Senators and Congressmen should not be enriched at our expense. If you are serious, then make it a crime.
