Maybe they sensed the saddened mood and decided this was not the time to claim territory? I know my dogs can be quite sensitive to my moods. That is good they respected your need to have your time and not make an issue about peopel in their territory. It's like they knew it wasn't going to last. I'm sure haivn ga bunch of big, tall people around a couple of small dogs wasn't going to help boost their confidence about...

Mat Training Success
Published (2009-11-12 20:16:00)
I ahve worked mat training with Linus for probably 4 years now, so although he does get treated for racing to his mat, and just being on his mat, I am used to him being so good going to it. Bella has only been here full time for a year and a half or two years, so she was a bit more difficult since she had no mat training. I used Melissa's mat training: http://www.doggiebagonline.com/forum...9969#post29969 (scroll down to Melissa's...

Mine is huggy all the time. When I come home, I have to put things down in the hallway before I open the door. As soon as she hears the door she comes flying and jumps right into the air and I better be ready to catch her .. LOL Enjoy and encourage those snuggly moments. Br. John

1.5 year old becoming aggressive...

Hi! Welcome to Doggiebag! Just to let you know there are very few true Alphas in the dog world. Most dogs are middle ranking. True Alphas get their points across by communicating through body language; getting physical is pretty much NEVER necessary. It doesnt really matter who if anyone is Alpha what is important is that dogs live seamlessly together. Sounds like these two have pretty much gotten into the habit of fighting because...

1.5 year old becoming aggressive...

We have a 12 year old Boston Terrier who is deteriorating (one eye removed, arthritic, general old age ailments) Since he has been a puppy, he has been the alpha male with another Boston his age that we lost about 4 years ago. We got a Boxer about a year and a half ago and Max (BT) has been the alpha over the Boxer (Zeus). In the last 6 months, they have gotten in numerous fights when Zeus gets anywhere near Max's food. Max growls and...

Sick sick people. I just don't know how or why someone would do that or be able to face themselves in the mirror after the abuse they inflict on an animal, much less force innocent kdis to parttake in the abuse. She was just teaching those kids to abuse animals. So now there are 6 more animal abusers in the world! I hope these kids learn not to abuse these animals in the future.

With both dogs now acting in the same fashion, I also would be looking at something on the outside. Were the rugs shampooed? It could be their food. Has the vet drawn blood recently?

I have had this happen with Linus at night. He is usually not all that snuggly--unlike Bella who would crawl under my skin if she could--but sometimes at night he will start staring at me and then move up and put his head on my stomach, and reach over and touch my DH with his paws. I don't know if something scares them, or it's just a moment of insecurity. (but I do love it).

Oh TimberWolf and Jason. I looked at this earlier and felt so sad for both of you. This is always the hardest thing we have to face, making what we consider to be the right decision for our pets when they are suffering--whether it is mentally or physically. If they are in physical pain, it (although never easy) is easier, but you are right, her mental pain is as debilitating for her. I believe ...
