Yes, John, that may make it easier to log into this old message board BUT.. This old message board will only last for a few more weeks. It's only being left here so that we can copy some of our favorite old posts over to the new new message board. It's time to move on to the new message boards at http://connect.diabetes.org . Chances are you will just be talking to yourself if you post here on the old board. If you are...

AMOlson said... Hon, hate to say it, but you seem entirely unhappy with this whole no everything diet. Sure know I would be. Just something to think about here ... just WHAT is your goal with all of this diet stuff ? Is it to be hungry and miserable and stressed or to feel better? Because I don't know about you, but I agree with the husband on this one ... My goal and the Dr.s goal is to keep me alive and well. My trigs had gone...

Hi Andy( I really have enjoyed all of your posts)........I make my own applesauce and apple butter. We have an apple tree that was overloaded with fruit and I made apple dumplings for my kids and made applesauce for myself. My kids like baked apples as well . I also just put up some fig preserves( no sugar needed), lemon curd, pixie mandarin oranges, okra, green beans, tomatoe sauce, stewed tomatoes and I also made some awesome BBQ...

AMOlson said... You know what's weird, I think we just had someone else this sort of thing happen to. They took their Lantus and then totally crashed out. Bad Lantus? Lantus injected IV will act like a fast acting insulin. You know it works by forming particles and precipitating out slowly. If some reason it is damaged (cloudy, has particles) it would would alter its behavior. Hitting a blood vessel and sending Lantus directly...

I have type 1, have had it for almost 40 years now, and use Lantus and Novolog, 4-8 shots a day, I test my blood sugar 4-12 times a day, and I'm looking into getting an insulin pump. My 16 year old son got into some legal trouble and is now a ward of the state, and the state sends a family caseworker to our house twice a week. I had a really terrible hypoglycemic event last week, my son had to call for am ambulance, it was...

The Real Scoop on Alcohol (?)
Published (2009-11-17 20:24:00)
What's the real scoop on alcohol and diabetes? Went to education class and came away from it with the idea that beer and wine must be kept at extremely moderate levels (single glass / one oz per volume wise - smaller w/ wine). Where as liquor was not mentioned. Beer (single glass) Wine (smaller glass naturally) Liquor (?) not liqueur as the level of sucrose would be different, etc). If a sweetener is a solid alcohol I could see how a wine...
